Ocean's Eleven Co-Star, Scott L. Schwartz, Remembered by George Clooney and Friends After Passing

Schwartz, who endeared himself to audiences with his portrayal of Bruiser in the Ocean's Eleven film series, passed away at the age of 65. Schwartz died from congestive heart failure on November 26, 2024, at his home in Covington, Louisiana.
George Clooney, who starred alongside Schwartz in the popular heist franchise, paid an emotional tribute. "I'm sorry to hear that Scott is gone", Clooney said. "We did three films together and I've never been so gently punched. He was a gentle soul and he will be dearly missed".
Schwartz's portrayal of Bruiser, a towering and intimidating yet gentle character, left a memorable impression in Ocean's Eleven (2001), Ocean's Twelve (2004), and Ocean's Thirteen (2007). His character was an integral part of the films’ intricate heists, showcasing his unique ability to combine physical presence with a warm heart.
Beyond his roles in the Ocean’s series, Schwartz's career spanned numerous appearances in both film and television. He featured in blockbusters like The Scorpion King and Starsky & Hutch, and on TV series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek: Enterprise, and The Young and the Restless.
Before finding fame in Hollywood, Schwartz also made a name for himself in the world of professional wrestling under the names The Israeli Commando and Giant David, and later served as a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy.
Those who knew him personally remembered him as a vibrant and loving individual. "Scott truly loved life and everyone that he met along the way", his widow Misty shared. "When he wasn’t acting, wrestling or telling jokes he spent his time visiting children with cancer at children’s hospitals.”
His friend, actor Rick Zahn, reflected on Schwartz's character and contributions, saying, "The acting community lost a terrific actor, and I lost a dear friend".
Schwartz is survived by his wife, Misty, his children Angela and Adam, his mother-in-law Brenda, his Aunt Penni, and cousins Sherry and Duwayne. His legacy endures not only through his memorable roles but also in the hearts of those he touched with his warmth and humility.
